Get to know the passion and expertise behind Mavz 9U-Williams in Lexington, SC.
Coach - Steve Williams

Mavz 9U-Williams began with a simple vision: to share my love for sports and help young athletes reach their full potential. Growing up in Michigan, sports were a fundamental part of my life. They taught me discipline, teamwork, and perseverance. After years of playing and coaching, I realized the profound impact that personalized coaching can have on a young athlete's journey. This inspired me to start Mavz 9U-Williams.
What sets us apart is our personal approach to each athlete's development. We believe in nurturing not just the physical skills, but also the mental and emotional aspects of sports. My coaching style is more like a teacher opposed to a drill sergeant. As a youth leader at Vivid Church, I have a passion for working with kids and helping them grow.
I want your children to excel, and moving from average to excellent takes effort. I'm committed to putting in that effort to help your kids grow both on and off the ball field. With dedication, they will achieve excellence. In baseball, we win and we learn—never lose. Each game offers valuable life lessons.
I am experience across multiple levels of baseball and softball as I have head-coached several T-Ball teams, led numerous travel ball pick-up games, and guided a South Carolina State 8U team as head coach. My expertise extended to assistant coaching roles for two 8U teams and an 11U team, where I played a key role in player development and game strategy.
With 21 years of personal experience as a competitive softball player, I has also head-coached numerous adult leagues. I am often found coaching from 3rd base or 1st base, where my deep knowledge of game situations has made me a valuable asset to every team.
I emphasize a few core values: sportsmanship and respect. We'll always demonstrate sportsmanship and respect each other. We represent not just ourselves but the entire Mavz community.
Winning is important, but my primary goal is development. I want your children to have the tools and fundamentals to excel at the next level. With effort and development, the wins will follow.
